Alice in Wonderland is a story of two sides: Tim Burton captured it perfectly and this styled wedding shoot does too. There’s the sweet, innocent, magical fairytale adventure for children, with Alice playing and then tumbling down a rabbit hole to take tea with the mad hatter. And then the darker side of Alice: the threat of the Queen of Hearts, the desperately exciting escape from Wonderland. It all makes Alice in Wonderland a creative and fun wedding theme to play with! But which Alice are you?…
I’m sharing two parts of a styled shoot with you now: the pretty fairytale and the darker side of Alice’s adventure. Both lend themselves to a wedding theme and will appeal to very different brides. The images are by Jennifer Sinclair Photography from a shoot inspired by the Radisson Blu Edwardian Hotel in Guildford.
For the first part of the shoot model Kerry has a whimsical, pretty look with loose hair, pastel flowers and soft make up tones. I love the super pretty display of raspberry and vanilla macarons! The vintage china was provided by The Tea Party Co. and was a great mix of colours which tied in with the props perfectly. Kate from Focal Point Designs created perfect colourful posies which sat inside the teacups and the teapot.
For the second part of the shoot model Sian plays the Queen of Hearts: the glamorous anti-heroine of the Lewis Carroll story. Caitlin Scott from Beauty Calls created a fantastic vintage style hair style and perfect vintage make-up which complimented her beautiful Benjamin Roberts gown.
The details and styling for the second part of the shoot – the impressive gold three tiered cake, vintage red rose bouquet and glamorous props added modern chic to today’s styled shoot showing how Alice in Wonderland can be a chic, glamorous theme as well as a quirky and whimsical wedding style!
With thanks to Jennifer Sinclair Photography for the submission, to Gemma from Little Star Events for the fabulous styling and words about the shoot, and to all of the creative team involved on the day for being amazing!
